What started out as a small local event in 1988 has continued to grow and expand and now boasts a 96-team co-ed tournament (that’s approximately 700 players!) and a social attended by 2000+ party goers.

Both the tournament and the social continue to be an event that is talked about through-out the year. For many students, Sun of a Beach ranked as the TOP EVENT of their college year!
Held in the Keystone Centre, the beach volleyball tournament attracts players of various skill levels from the local community as well as from all areas of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North Dakota. Individual players have travelled from as far away as British Columbia and even Florida to participate in this event.

The popular Sun of a Beach social is Westman’s largest beach party and tickets for it are a hot item. This event has a history of selling out prior to the Big DAY!

Planning an event of this magnitude is an extensive task and requires countless hours of work from volunteers, many of whom are college students and staff.

Our dedicated sponsors are also a big part of the events’ success. Many of them have been supporting the event since day one!

Proceeds from Sun of a Beach go directly back into programs and services for students, so, by coming out of Sun of a Beach- you’re helping yourself!
