Gurjiwan Singh Brar - Vice President Engagement

Gurjiwan is in his first term of the Agriculture Advanced Diploma

Describe yourself in five words

Trustworthy, Passionate, Honest, Eco-friendly, Extrovert.

What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

Just want to explore the idea of kitchen gardening with less expenditure in cold conditions so one can grow own their own.

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

I have served as a Head Boy of my school. Furthermore as an extrovert person, I easily mix up with people. As an example, since 2012 I have had a friend group of 15 people in bachelors and since then all of them are here and now we have become family rather than only friends , so I just wanna say UNITY is my instinct, which is a quality one leader should possess.

What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

In ACCSA ,all Council Members and Staff come together for betterment of students and support them in each and every field to their best .

What are your top 3 qualities that you feel would best serve your fellow students?

Anhaddeep Kaur - Vice President Engagement

Anhaddeep is in her first year of the Hotel & Restaurant Management Program!

What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

I am heading towards degree on Hotel & Restaurant Management. I love to help people.

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

My qualities of meeting new people and an experience as I worked at a front office motivated me to go through.

What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

It is a team of council members and staff, those put their hand together to provide services, events, and supports to students.

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

I have served as a student representative for my department during my undergraduate studies at Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Nigeria

ACCSA represents the entire student community of the college and student needs

What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

Not sure at the moment, perhaps a mix of agriculture with mechanical engineering

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

I’ve played managerial positions in the past, hence I have experience in being a leader, pursing goals and organizing teams.

It’s a group in charge of bring support to students

Harlee Nazar - School of Nursing Representative

Harlee is in her third term of the Practical Nursing Program in Brandon

Describe yourself in five words

Compassionate, Efficient, Dedicated, Respectful, Creative

What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

After completing the Practical Nursing program here at ACC, I plan to work in the field as a Licensed Practical Nurse to gain experience in the ICU or Emergency to work towards becoming an Aviation Nurse.

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

have no experience in past student associations that has prepared me to take on this position, but I have worked for large companies where I have had lots of responsibility.

What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

The ACC strives to have a great reputation of students who succeed, they are a strong, close knit college that always puts their students first.

What are your top 3 qualities that you feel would best serve your fellow students?

  • Enthusiasm – I am always advocating for others, I am not afraid to speak up.
  • Helpful – When people are struggling with school or computer issues, I am always there to lend a helping hand
  • Communication – I always try my best to communicate clearly and concisely.
Elizabeth Brown - School of Health & Human Services Representative

 

 Elizabeth is in her first year of the Early Childhood Education program.

What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

 I currently work at a childcare centre and plan to continue this career path upon completion of my ECE Diploma

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

 I served on my high school student council for 4 years, including the position of president in my senior year. In this role I was a leader who made decisions for and organized activities for the student body.

What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

 ACCSA encourages student success, and provides unique experiences for students. Running a health & dental insurance program, Paw Pass Program, U-Pass and much more. The ACCSA supports the growth of our college community.

Julia Teichroeb - School of Business Representative

Julia is in the first year of her Business Administration Diploma – Accounting.

Describe yourself in five words

Organized, Diligent, Adventurous, Ambitious, Impartial. 

What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

I have not decided on the career I would like to pursue after college, however I have decided to go into management because of all the positions I have held, this has been my favourite. I love the interaction with people and the positive impact a good manager can have on their everyday lives. 

What past experience have prepared you for this position?

I previously worked as a Market People Lead for a business that owned multiple restaurants across multiple towns. This has given me experience working with people with diverse upbringings and backgrounds. I also gained experience working with all types of business programs. I learned how to communicate effectively to a large team as well as a small group of managers. I believe all of this experience will be utilized on student council. 

What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

The ACCSA is a peer elected council that advocates for the students. The ACCSA is responsible for programs at the college such as, health benefits, student events, student support, and student based initiatives. 

What are your top 3 qualities that you feel would best serve your fellow students?

  • I work on an open door policy, which means if you have a concern I am always someone you can come to for a judgement free zone.
  • I am very organized, this means I am able to set specific time away for student council and stick to that.
  • I am proactive, this means I will always be thinking future possibilities.

    Ella is in her first term of the Practical Nursing program in Winnipeg.

    What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

    My original plan is to apply to Medical school after my undergrad. However, I feel like I need more skills and knowledge in the health care field before I pursue that dream career. I thought of nursing because even though I have a different career, my goal is still the same, which is to make a difference to people’s lives. I want to help others as much as I can. I want to be someone’s hope and want them to feel that they are not alone.

    What past experience have prepared you for this position?

    I was a supervisor in a fast food restaurant for almost 3 years and I worked for almost 3 years in a personal care home. I learned how to be organized, planning ahead of time and submitting reports before deadline. I am flexible with time and can adapt well with sudden changes. Also, when I was working in personal care home, I helped with planning programs or strategies that could help our residents improve their health & well-being

    What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

    I am a first year student in ACC and I don’t know anything about ACCSA. I inquired about it because I want to be active in school activities because I believe it could benefit me in the future as well as I’d like to think that I could help the campus with my current skills. As of the moment I know that ACCSA benefits both the students and the campus because they seek feedbacks that could help in improving students’ life in the campus. Campus can benefit from this feedback because it can improve the campuses reputation to students. This could increase admission and student retention in the campus.

    Charlene Nault - Accessibility Representative

     

    Charlene is the first term of the Social Service Worker program!

    What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

    I have not decided, I have many different options but I definitely want to work within probations, mental health, addictions, or the social service field

    What past experience have prepared you for this position?

    I have been a part of the Students’ Association for most of 2021. I am very knowledgeable with the mission statement & bylaws.

    What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

    I was on the ACCSA through my time at the Adult Collegiate as a rep and spent the summer as the VP Engagement so I know a lot about the ACCSA

    What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

     I always wanted to lead a team; to be an administrator, to be a manager, or any positions that I will be the team leader.

    What past experience have prepared you for this position?

    During my college years in the Philippines, I was very active both as a student and a leader. I was a President of the Information Technology Society and at the same time the Vice-President of the League of Student Organizations

    What do you currently know about the ACCSA?

    Association for students of ACC that will help to promote the rights and privileges of the latter.

    Trevor is in his second year of the Business Administration Diploma – Financial Services

    What career do you hope to pursue after completing your education at Assiniboine.

     Financial Advisor, or possibly an instructor.

    Completing a post-secondary degree at Brandon University. Also, life and work experiences.

     ACCSA is a voice for the students of ACC to assist with issues or concerns that students may have.
