Can you believe that there’s only four weeks until fall classes start? Not to mention that orientation for new students is only three weeks away! The summer is wrapping up quickly and our team is working hard to get everything prepared for our incoming students.
We are solidifying our plans for Xplore ACC. We have confirmed what information we want to share with students, our promotional displays, the lunch menu, lunchtime entertainment, and contests. We will be busy all of that week (August 27-31) interacting with all new domestic and international students from the Brandon campuses. If you are an incoming student reading this, we are looking forward to meeting you!
In addition to Xplore, we are also preparing for Welcome Week. We have some great events lined up for students to help everyone feel welcomed and excited for the start of school. We have info booths, Back in the Saddle social, and popcorn in addition to the Summer Lights Festival I mentioned in a previous update. Keep an eye out for more information on these events in the coming weeks!
More exciting news: our new day planners arrived this week, and they look great! Not only do they have plenty of great information for students, they also have some games and colouring pages hidden throughout! Our new website is also launching this week, and it will be sleeker and easier to use than ever. These were two huge projects in the office this summer, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see how everyone’s dedication has paid off!
Finally, as we continue to finish our planning for September, the VPs and I are returning to our goal setting. Now that we’ve made so much progress with what we hoped to accomplish over the summer, we are refocusing and setting our intentions for the school year. The 2018-2019 theme we determined at the beginning of the summer was “community”. Vrunda, Shelby, and I agreed that we want our focus this year to be involving all students and increasing the feelings of community within the college. We hope to become a well-used resource for all students, and help create a fun and friendly environment at the college.
Bye for now!
