I can believe it’s already been a month since classes started! I hope that everyone’s enjoyed it as much as I have, and that the transition back to school has been a smooth one.
We’ve organized, partnered in, and facilitated many events and activities in the past month, including XPlore ACC, the Back in the Saddle and B-Queer socials, the Summer Lights Music Festival, Drag-U drag workshop, the Awards and Scholarships Lunch & Learn, as well as a few Popcorn Fridays and Wellness Wednesdays. I’d like to thank all those who have participated in our initiatives in the past month. It has been incredibly rewarding to put our efforts into projects that have received such great attendance and positive feedback. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year has to offer.
In other news, voting days are almost upon us! As many of you know, nominations for our general council opened on September 4, and were extended to this Friday, September 28. We’ve had lots of promising applications come in, and I wish all the candidates the best of luck during elections! For all those who aren’t running for council, don’t forget to vote! Each vote matters, and it’s important to be able to voice your opinion and help shape your school year.
After elections will be our fall retreat for our council. We’ll be headed to Clear Lake for an overnight trip on October 12 and 13. It will be an opportunity for our council members to get to know one another, and learn about their roles in the ACCSA in more detail.
Finally, we are looking into updating our student spaces at the Victoria East campus in the coming year, and will be doing surveys to see what students would like to see in the college. We’re all incredibly excited to be able to undertake a project like this, and are looking forward to planning and preparing for it. Stay tuned to see when we will be distributing surveys!
That’s all for this month! I will be back a month from now with another update, which you will be able to find on the student intranet, or on our website accstudents.com.
Bye for now!
