I hope everyone has had a great first quarter of the year, and that midterms passed by smoothly for all those who had them! It’s been a bit of a quieter month for the SA in terms of events, but we’ve still been up to quite a lot in our office.
On October 5, we announced our newly elected general council, and then we welcomed them at our council retreat on October 12-13. The purpose of this retreat was to allow all members of the council to get to know each other, and then learn about the roles and responsibilities of being on council. We spent a full day at Elkhorn Resort in Clear Lake learning and brainstorming for the year ahead. It was a fantastic experience that brought forth a lot of great ideas, and I’m looking forward to seeing how those ideas take shape in the coming months.
About halfway through the month, we published our quarterly Student Focus. You may have seen the brightly coloured booklets in various student spaces around the college. The publication covers a variety of student topics both in and out of the classrooms, and also includes updates from the ACCSA. We are always looking for new content and content creators for the Focus, so please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to submit any photos or articles. We are very flexible in our content, so if you have any ideas, we’d love to hear them!
Most recently, we celebrated the end of the month with our annual Halloween Food Drive. With the help from volunteers from our community and our student body, we went door-to-door the night of October 31 and collected food donations for the Samaritan House. This year, we were able to collect an awe-inspiring amount of 5300lbs of food. We’re incredibly grateful for all our sponsors and volunteers that helped make this event a success.
We’re looking forward to may more events this month, so make sure you’re keeping up with us on social media! You can find us at the following:
Bye for now!
