ACCSA Statement on Ukraine Crisis

Friday, February 25, 2022

The following message was written by the Alexis Cinq-Mars, ACCSA VP Diversity & Inclusion

To our Students and Staff,

We at the Assiniboine Community College Students’ Association would take a moment of your time to acknowledge the crisis happening in Ukraine. We recognize that this is a complex world issue that may be affecting our students as the growing tensions rise.

We support our past and present students who come from military homes and workplaces, as well as students with family and friends in Ukraine, who may be experiencing discomfort and anxieties surrounding the evolving news of the Ukraine crisis. We have hope that our Canadian government and United Nations will continue to navigate this issue to resolve it peacefully and quickly.

Most urgently, we want to uphold our students who belong to the Ukraine homelands and who have families there. We recognize that you may be needing addition supports during this difficult time. We extend our virtual hands in providing the I.M. Well service app to students who may be suffering mentally due to this crisis.

I.M Well is a completely confidential service that provides students and their families with immediate assistance when they need it most. These services are available to individuals, couples or families and can be provided in person, via emails, online, video calls or by telephone. Students can contact I.M. Well through the I.M. Well mobile app, or by calling 1.877.554.6935.

I encourage you to reach out to I.M. Well, or a member of the Students’ Association Council should you have any concerns or questions related to support your needs at this time.

The ACCSA extends its virtual hands to come together in unity and understanding for the sophisticated dynamics which may be affecting members of the college community during this crisis.

With regards,

Alexis Cinq-Mars
