Julia Teichroeb - President

My name is Julia Teichroeb. I am currently the VP Governance on the SAC (Student’s Association Council.). For my second year as a student, and ideally a member of the SAC, I have decided to run for President. I believe my experience at the ACCSA has given me the skills I will need to be your next President. This year I have learned the ins and outs of The Student’s Association, what helps our organization thrive, and what improvements need to be made! Before attending ACC, I spent over 10 years in senior management, giving me exceptional leadership skills. I believe these skills will be essential to motivating the members of the SAC, engagement from members is essential to our success! As president, my plan would be to improve overall engagement for our students. More events, more clubs, more initiatives, more engagement!!

Charlene Nault - Vice President Diversity & Inclusion

I am a Metis citizen with a huge passion for serving and advocating for others. This is my fourth time running for a position on the ACCSA so I have lots of experience within the organization and how it is run. I have served as a Vice President and I have been a part of the Student’s Association for almost my entire education experience at ACC. I am a Social Service Worker student so my education is based around cross culture awareness, Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ issues. I have been on the Wellness Committee, Accessibility Committee and I am also an Executive in my Metis local. I have 3 adult children and my home life revolves around my animals.

Isaac Omonaiye - Agriculture & Environment Representative

Isaac is a self-motivated person with a unique record of leadership character for service. He is currently a first-year student in Civil Technology and served as the representative for Agriculture and Environment.

I have a degree and master’s in urban planning. I have participated in student governance at various levels during my undergraduate studies at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria. I was one of the most influential and active members of the Student Union Government. Also, I have served on several committee boards as an extended service to God and the Country.

I am concerned about helping people give expression to their call and purpose in life. Beyond this, I hope to consistently engage with the students and address any concerns about their academic experience.

I am optimistic that if I have your vote again, I will exceed your imagination and make our Union desirable in the Province and Nation through meaningful contribution.

Hannah Wowk - Business Representative

Hello, my name is Hannah Wowk, I am a Medical Administration student. Previously I completed two years of psychology at Brandon University. I taught gymnastics for five years and have a very good understanding of what it means to work on a team as well as coaching others. I have worked with Modere, a social retail company, for almost two years and have learned to work with many different individuals and situations as well to deal with people’s issues when it comes to having problems. I’m a very outgoing person, love to talk and I’m easy to get along with. I am here to help serve the needs and issues that the students bring to me, making sure everyone has a safe place to speak what’s on their mind. I will bring it up all issues and concerns with the council. Student Council is a great way to be more involved with your school, be a part of a team, and have a voice, which is what I plan to do if elected.

Kenadee Williams - Nursing Representative

My name is Kenadee Williams, and I am 21 years old. I am in my first year at the practical nursing program at the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. I have chosen the practical nursing program because I have always loved helping others and made a choice to be in this field so that I can help within the community. I have grown up with a few family members that are in the medical fields as either nurse, paramedic, or pharmacist and watch what they did, and I became so fascinated with it. I find that when I am not studying that I like to venture out and go on walks especially have a long day of studying, watch movies but no the horror ones because they scare me too much, spend time with friends joking and goofing around, reading and coloring in different books even anatomy ones too. Anything that helps me relax before I must get back into studying. I am an open book and am very approachable, so any questions that you have for me or about me I will do my best to answer. Running for Nursing Representative on Student council is a going challenge me to get out of my comfort zone and improve my leadership skills. My intention for the Nursing student representative is to ensure that all voice is being heard and all of the concerns are executed correctly under the policies of the Assiniboine Community College. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Another important part of my life is being creative, I enjoying painting both canvas and large equipment. Through painting I have learned ways to improve my own mental health and love to talk openly of some of the struggles to help others.
As an ambassador I hope to create a great sense of community within my program and bring forward some of the issues that students are facing. As well as bringing awareness to mental health issues and ideas that can improve student life on and off campus.

I want to represent MICA because it is a great program with a lot of great people, also I am a very friendly person and love to talk about what’s happening in the college and how people are enjoying the course. I want to people outside of the college to hear and see the great stuff that we do and the great food we make over at MICA because I think that the work we put in to make good product for the community and the work that goes it should be showcased. Anmol Singh - International Representative

Hi, I am Anmol Singh. I am an International Student. This is my first year studying Business Administration- Human Resources Management. After graduating high school in India, I came to study in an entirely different environment that is somewhat challenging for me. My goal is to help international students, so I am running for the International Representative slot on the Council. Having studied overseas myself, I understand the difficulties international students face when they arrive in a new country. Generally, people feel anxious when they arrive in a culture different from theirs because they do not understand the values, beliefs, and culture of the people around them completely. Trying to communicate and network in a foreign culture can be challenging. It is also common occurrence for newly arrived students to be subjected to stereotypes and stereotype-based discrimination at college and work. The ideas that I am going to focus on include discrimination, financial stressors, language barriers, academics, social and cultural differences as well as mental health concerns faced by international students.

Tessa Klein - Mature Representative

I am a single mom and a full-time mature student fulfilling my dream of getting a diploma in Human Resources. I enjoy being involved in ACC events and student culture. I enjoy helping, encouraging, and supporting any way I can and would love to be involved in ACCSA Student Council.

Elizabeth Francis - Indigenous Representative

Hello,
My name is Elizabeth Francis, but I prefer Liz. I am a 25-year-old Dakota/Sioux woman born in Brandon, Manitoba but raised in Sioux Valley, Dakota Nation.
I am in my 1st year of Business Administration, to enter Human Resource Management as my specialization. Before starting my college experience, I have worked in multiple management positions and have loved working within the customer service industry. I have learned many qualities within the field and wish to bring my experience forward into my career.
I have decided to run for student council in hopes of bringing the skills learned forward and continuing learning. This is what life is all about! I would love to be involved within the indigenous community and beyond in hopes of making changes for the better. My desire to enter human resources and work with people is one of my most vital attributes to work within the council.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Ali Ramirez - LGBT2SQ+ Representative

Hello everyone, my name is Alicia Ramirez, but you can call me Ali for short. I am currently a year one social services student who has dreams of becoming a social worker. As someone who identifies both as an ethnic minority and queer, I am passionate about inclusion and the rights of LGBT2SQ+ in our community. I believe that having queer and racialized representation is important in all institutions. Greater and better representation ensures that all LGBT people can see themselves reflected in all spaces. Not only does it increase acceptance and understanding, but it promotes a healthy and safe environment for all students, which is why I am a strong advocate for promoting inclusion and diversity across all college campuses. I hope to contribute into creating a safe space for students at ACC. Most importantly, I am running to be the LGBT2SQ+ representative to be that reflection for the LGBT2SQ+ community within our campus to ensure that they have a voice within the ACC community.
